Why lose up to 40% in tax ... and up to 5% in fees?
At last, a good pension transfer option
We can help you transfer a UK or other pension to New Zealand, saving you a great deal of tax and commission costs, and enabling your retirement portfolio to be professionally managed from a local point of view.
Many new and returning New Zealanders – particularly those coming from the UK – have pension funds that can be transferred to New Zealand. Until recently we didn’t like the options. High fees, currency risks, and inefficient tax rules meant we rarely advised clients to make the transfers. Now that’s changed. If you have a UK or other pension or superannuation plan you should talk to us. We may be able to save you large amounts of tax and move it into a more efficiently managed, transparent portfolio at very low cost – all without having to move a cent into NZ dollars.
Not only do we investigate, advise on, and arrange transfers, we can also tailor your portfolio once it is here, leaving funds in British Pounds or other currencies for as long as this seems prudent, taking account of your personal circumstances and plans.
Very good reasons
If you have money in super funds or offshore pensions – especially UK pensions – there may be good reasons for you to give us a call
- No commission! Most operators in this area take commission. We are fee-based advisers and do not accept commission on transfers. Our fees are usually much lower than the commission would be.
- No need for annual valuations to calculate your FIF tax on each year’s (1 April to 31 March) gains.
- No tax deducted from your transfer sum! We may be able to save you up to 40% tax on this.
- Professional, locally-based advice throughout the process, and a personally designed portfolio once your money is here.
- No need for currency losses – we invest directly into foreign currencies to minimise any currency risk.
- No requirement to buy an annuity at retirement.
- Access to your UK pension transfer proceeds (after 5 years of residency outside the UK: if you are under 50 – up to 20% of the balance; age 50 to 55 – up to 55%; after that – up to 100%).
We can also transfer funds from New Zealand based super schemes and other overseas pensions.
